Emotional Walls Creative Exercise
Let’s be real: If you’re navigating relationship uncertainty, you’ve probably built some emotional walls. Maybe it’s resentment over things that were never addressed. Maybe it’s hurt from breaches of trust. Or maybe it’s just exhaustion after carrying too much emotional labor for too long.
This exercise gives you space to get real about those walls—without the therapy cliché fluff.
How It Works:
Step 1: Imagine (or literally build) a wall. Get creative—blocks, sticky notes, drawings—whatever works.
Step 2: Label each block with the resentments, fears, disappointments, or protective patterns you’ve built.
Step 3: Reflect: Which of these blocks feel unmovable? Which ones could come down if the right conditions were met?
Step 4: Consider: Did some of these walls exist before this relationship? Have they been reinforced along the way?
Why It’s Worth Doing:
Walls serve a purpose—they protect. But they can also keep you isolated. If you’re wondering whether rebuilding connection is possible, this exercise helps you figure out what you’re protecting and what it might take to step back out.
✨ Bonus: It’s way more interesting than just journaling about your feelings.
